Through all this, it can be easy to forget about the logistics of getting your new Sofa from the delivery lorry to its designated spot in your home. So we have created a brand-new Measuring Guide to help you feel confident when purchasing your Suite. Gather Your Tools Before you start wandering the halls trying to guestimate or measure random distances, you’ll need to do a little prep. First thing’s first, you will need a tape measure! Not sure if you’ve got one? Check the kitchen junk drawer, ask a DIY-loving friend if you can borrow one or pop to your local hardware shop and invest in one of your own. Whilst you’re there, grab a roll of masking tape…this will come in handy later. Next, you’ll need to jot down the measurements of the Sofa you are looking to purchase. This information can be found either on our website on the relevant product page, or on the postcard if you picked one up from one of our Stockists. Make sure to carry this with you as you measure so you can refer to it as you go. We recommend grabbing a friend to help you measure, a second opinion and set of hands can make this task a lot easier. Measure Twice, Buy Once Let’s start in the room you’re purchasing the Sofa for. Pick the spot you would like your Sofa to sit and measure out the width and depth of your Sofa in that space. Whilst you’re measuring, grab that roll of masking tape and mark out the size of the Sofa on the floor. This way you’ll be able to make a visual judgement as well as a mathematical one. This way you will know for sure if your desired Sofa will fit in your preferred space and whether you need to rethink your choice. Hey, you may even be able to size up! Time to Form a Strategy Now it’s time to formulate a strategy for moving the Sofa from the delivery spot to the desired room. Do a couple of walk-throughs to decide on the best plan, whilst keeping in mind a backup option, this is where a second opinion can be priceless! Once you’ve decided on your route, take note of each doorway, hallway, corner, stairs and even lift that you will be moving the Sofa through. Grab your Sofa dimensions and handy tape measure again, it’s time to compare some numbers! Compare each measurement to your Sofa dimensions as you go, that way if one area of your strategy won’t work, you can save time by stopping and rethinking your plan.
